So after writing this I realize it is kind of intense. Feel free to not read it, I won't be offended.
This is my take on battling with mistakes, self worth, and weakness and finding hope in our father who never stops loving us.
She is in such agony. I hear her crying out but she doesn't think anyone even notices. The sound of her heart being ripped apart little by little is deafening. She doesn't know. I want to scream at the top of my lungs, "WAKE UP! Life doesn't have to be this way. You don't have to be miserable!"
She's looking for a reason to belong. For acceptance, for purpose, for love.
She's chasing after things that make her feel useless.
She strives for perfection and actually believes it is obtainable.
In a moment of weakness she turns to him to save her. Little does she know he's just going to play her.
He's the go-to guy. When things don't go your way, he is there waiting.
He knows all the right words. He knows her every weakness.
He tells her she's beautiful for one night and gives her love.
Once he has her wrapped around his finger, he begins to reveal his true nature.
He points out her flaws and calls her names.
He calls her damaged, ugly, and useless.
But yet, she still stays with him, hoping he will change.
Everyday she puts on her makeup to cover her scars and bruises. She puts her fake smile on and hopes someone will see past the show she puts on. She's desperate for a savior.
Realizing the pain she cries alone in her room. She says to herself she deserved it.
She wishes one day he would just hit her hard enough to make her sleep last.
Then a memory comes to her. She remembers the time she was safe in her father's arms.
She remembers being held and cherished and loved. Suddenly with a burst of courage she packs her bags and gets ready to leave.
He gets home just as she's about to leave. He cries like a poor puppy and begs for her to stay and promises never to hurt her again.
She gives in and wakes up the next day expecting change. He was nice to her for one night.
Then she does something wrong and he hits her, harder than ever before. He beats her, rapes her, then makes her say "sorry" as if she did this to herself.
She is caught up in his lies. Down for the count, she thought for sure.
Then she hears a familiar voice. Her eyes are too swollen to see clearly.
The next morning she sees that her dad sitting beside her bed, carefully watching her.
She is too brainwashed to know what love is. She doesn't want to be watched over.
She thinks she will be fine on her own and goes into hiding.
It wasn't too long for her deceiver to find her. She finds it so easy to just live with the pain he brings her. One night after leaving her on the floor, unable to get up, she hears her father's voice come close.
She cries to him and begs for forgiveness.
"I've already forgiven you. You mean so much to me. I've never left you, I've always been right here. I have and will always love you. You are beautiful and so worthy of love. My child, come rest in my incredible peace. I was the one who made you and I am making you new now. You are not damaged. You are beautiful."
Awe! It is a little intense, but it's realistic. I think it's great!

Sadly I have lived this cycle and it is intense but true. Intense yes but as Katie says it is very realistic. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteIt is very intense but very real, Bekah. So glad you drew the analogy of our earthly father with our Heavenly Father. He is always there for us, no matter how badly we are beaten down. Good job!!
